If you want to get the most out of your cycling then you might want to consider getting a pair of specialized cycling shoes to get the most from your cycling experience. Most people don't even know that serious cyclists don't wear sneakers when they ride. The cycling shoes are designed to give them maximum comfort, grip and are ergonomically produced to reduce injury. That's just a fancy way of saying that these are highly specialized cycling shoes. The question is do you really need to wear them or can you just wear sneakers?

If you want to get the most out of your cycling then you might want to consider getting a pair of specialized cycling shoes to get the most from your cycling experience. Most people don't even know that serious cyclists don't wear sneakers when they ride. The cycling shoes are designed to give them maximum comfort, grip and are ergonomically produced to reduce injury. That's just a fancy way of saying that these are highly specialized cycling shoes. The question is do you really need to wear them or can you just wear sneakers?

Lets look at some reasons why you would want to use a specialized cycling shoe instead of a plain old pair of sneakers. For one your sneakers are not designed to allow your foot to breathe properly. If you are on a bike for an extended period of time you want your feet to be able to breathe. There is nothing worse than getting half way through a run and having your feet start to get hot and in turn begin to get numb and sweaty. The heat gets trapped inside the shoe and creates a very uncomfortable feeling and can even lead to foot fungus because the heat and sweat have nowhere to escape.

The specialized cycling shoe is ergonomically designed to compliment the natural position of your knees in relation to the pedaling motion. All that means is that if you are going to ride for a long time you will potentially do harm to your knees because your feet aren't positioned properly on the pedals. The specialized cycling shoes will position your feet properly to allow for maximum efficiency. Sneakers are not designed for pedaling, they are designed for walking and running. You wouldn't wear sneakers on a golf course would you?

Another important asset to the specialized cycling shoe is the specialized cleats or grips the shoe uses. Picture a baseball player or a football player wearing only sneakers and you can imagine that they would be slipping and sliding all over the place. This is the same concept with specialized cycling shoes. Each shoe manufacturer utilizes a different type of design but they are all created to give the cyclist the maximum grip for optimum performance. A sneaker just simply can't give you the grip you need.

You may question if you really need specialized cycling shoes if you aren't riding professionally. This is a personal decision we each have to make. Is it worth the expense? My answer is an emphatic yes, because of the comfort and reduced chance of injury. Riding can be a lot of fun but it can also be dangerous. I want to take every precaution available to me so I enjoy my ride and I don't get hurt in the process. I think if you tried riding with these specialized cycling shoes you will ask yourself why you haven't gotten a pair already.
